1 killed, 1 seriously injured in motorcycle-car crash in Fayette County


September 28 – A Maryland motorcyclist was killed and his female passenger seriously injured on Sunday in a head-on collision with a car along National Pike in Henry Clay Township, Fayette County, Uniontown State Police said .

Rick W. Campbell, 45, of Dundalk, Md., Was pronounced dead at Ruby Memorial Medical Center in Morgantown, W.Va., where he was taken after the 4:47 p.m. crash, soldiers said.

A passenger in her 2012 Harley-Davidson, Jessica Good, 47, of Baltimore, Md., Was rushed to hospital with serious injuries, police said.

Private Kaylee Wietrzykowski said the driver of the car, 85, Wayne E. Hager of Markleysburg, said he was pulling out of a parking lot on the 4600 block of the freeway and looking west “and indicated he was blinded by the sun.”

When Hager headed east, Wietrzykowski said he was straddling the center line of the eastbound and westbound lanes and collided head-on with Campbell’s motorcycle in the westbound direction.

Campbell and Good were both thrown from the motorcycle, police said.

Hager was not injured.

The investigation is continuing.
